Yosemite national park is one of the most fascinating tourist places of California. The Yosemite national park covers 58 streams, which accounts to more than 700 miles in length. It is considered as one of the best places for fishing. However, there are certain fishing regulations in Yosemite National Park, which are governed by the State of California. Some of these regulations include no bait fishing, prohibition of live or dead bait organisms and usage of only artificial lures with barbless hooks.

The number of fish that can be caught or possessed is also fixed for a particular area. For example; in the main valley, the number of brown trout is five per day, whereas rainbow trout should be released immediately. It is mandatory to have a valid California fishing license for the visitors of age 16 years or above. If you don't have the mentioned license, you can consult with the park's visitor centers. You can purchase the fishing license from the service providers in the area. Make sure to attach the license while going out for fishing.

You can explore either through guided fishing tours or on your own. If you are heading out on your own, you can consult with the local guides about the fishing regulations of the park. In case, you don't carry fishing gear, fishing equipment and supplies are available through rental systems. First of all, decide on the best spot for fishing. You can take help of the resources to fix a spot for a successful fishing.

If possible, go for a lower elevation site, so that you won't get tired during the fish adventure. Some of the best spots for fishing are Tuolomne river, Buena Vista lake and Washburn lake. For more adventurous fishing, you can search for untouched waters like Conness creek. While doing so, make sure that you carry a good GPS (Global Positioning System) in order to track the direction and/location.

Most fish found in the Yosemite streams are planters, ranging between 12-16 inch in length. An angler can catch many fish per day during the fishing season. Interestingly, the fish caught from higher elevations are comparatively smaller than those from low elevation waters. Among them, trout fishing is more common. You can notice several varieties of trout such as golden, brown, rainbow and brook trout.
