Sauteed Scallops

Scallops is a popular edible shellfish, that is similar to oysters and clamps. There are scores of different recipes of scallops that are enjoyed by one and all. The soft and fleshy texture of scallops, along with its mild sweet flavor is the reason for this seafood becoming so popular in almost all parts of the world. Now, you must be wondering how to cook scallops! You can bake them, grill them or just fry them in butter, they are surely going to satiate your taste buds.

Sauteed Scallops Recipes

Sauteed scallops are easy to make and are ready within minutes. The key here is to choose the best quality scallops for these recipes.

Recipe 1
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound scallops
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • cup butter
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
Directions:
Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan. When the butter melts completely, add crushed garlic and rosemary to it. Then add scallops and cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Turn them over and continue cooking for two more minutes. When it is of the desired consistency, remove the rosemary and garlic. Serve hot!

Recipe 2
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound scallops, with shells
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • cup butter
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
Directions:
Wash the scallops and dry them well. In a medium-sized saucepan or skillet, melt butter over low heat. Add crushed garlic, chopped parsley, salt and pepper, when the butter melts completely. When you see the butter foaming, add the washed and dried scallops. Saut for about 2 to 3 minutes. Serve hot!

Recipe 3
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound scallops
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 ripe tomato, skinned, seeded and chopped
  • cup parsley, finely chopped
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Saut crushed garlic and chopped shallot, until it is tender. Add the scallops and saut till they turn slightly brown and opaque. This may take five minutes or so! Now, add lemon juice, chopped tomato, parsley, salt and black pepper. Cook for about a minute over medium heat.

Recipe 4
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound sea scallops
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and de-veined
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • 1 small green onion, sliced
Directions:
Microwave the bacon slices until crispy. Drain them and place on a paper towel. In a large skillet, add the bacon grease or the drippings. Add scallops and shrimp and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often. Cook until the scallops are opaque and the shrimp turn pink. Now add sliced green onion and cook for another minute, stirring constantly. Serve it hot with crumbled bacon sprinkled over it!
